Operation Mincemeat's Final Performance: A Live Concert on Instagram
The Broadway production of Operation Mincemeat, featuring David Cumming, Claire-Marie Hall, Natasha Hodgson, Jak Malone, and Zoë Roberts, is coming to an end. Due to the impending snowstorm in New York City, their final performance scheduled for 7:30 p.m. has been canceled. This zany, fact-based musical is a Tony-nominated masterpiece, written by actors Cumming, Hodgson, and Roberts, alongside Felix Hagan, all members of the UK theater troupe SpitLip. The show's journey began at the London Fringe New Diorama Theatre in 2019 with a tiny, budget-friendly production. It quickly gained a dedicated following, leading to sold-out runs at venues like Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios. The show finally made its West End debut at the Fortune Theatre in 2023, where it claimed the Olivier and WhatsOnstage Awards for Best New Musical, along with 74 five-star reviews and counting.
Malone's performance as Hester, with the standout ballad 'Dear Bill,' earned him a Tony and an Olivier Award. Cumming plays Charles Cholmondeley, Hall portrays Jean Leslie, Hodgson takes on Ewen Montagu, and Roberts brings Johnny Bevan and others to life. The show is described as a fast-paced, hilarious, and unbelievable true story of a twisted secret mission that won World War II. It's a unique blend of 'Singin' in the Rain' and 'Strangers on a Train,' with a touch of Noel Coward and Noel Fielding.
